Ladder Up is a non-profit Tax Assistance Program that assists low-income family of Chicago with their yearly tax returns. Ladder-up has returned more than $334 million to over 165,000 clients since it’s founding. This program is primary run through the help of volunteers.

Additional Training

Site Leader: Volunteers is in charge of the different things going on at the site. Site leaders are responsible for the event running smoothly and answering any questions necessary. If you are interested in becoming a site leader, you must schedule additional one-hour advance training through your profile.

Other Information

  • Starting Jan 25th the slots will be open to NEIU volunteers after if the slots don’t fill then it will be open to other Ladder Up volunteers.

  • Ladder Up ask once you have completed your training to please volunteer to at least 3 events.

  • Please us recruit more volunteers by making announcements in your classrooms and spreading the word to your family and friends.

  • To participate in 2014 Ladder-Up, you must make a profile on http://www.goladderup.org after December 1, 2013. Use your profile to sign-up for the training session.

 

  • Training is about 3-4 hours. In this time volunteers will cover everything from how to be preparer and a checker. At the end of the training volunteers will be asked to complete and pass the IRS basic exam to officially qualify for Ladder Up 2014. 

Intake Volunteer: Volunteers is in charge of greeting, signing clients in, and helping them fill out forms. If you are interested in becoming a intake volunteer, you must schedule additional two-hour advance training through your profile.

Interpreter: Spanish and Polish speaking volunteers are needed to help translate. i If you are interested in becoming a interpreter, you must schedule additional one-hour advance training through your profile.
